During 50s we were residing in the house at 49 Brahmin street One of our neighbor was a lawyer called Srinivasa Iyengar If I remember correct he had a daughter called Komala and perhaps she is the famous dancer Komala varadan ( I want a confirmation on this) We also had a press reporter called Vembu who was working for the Hindu There was a Hotel at the start of this road at the station end

This street called Peria maniyakkara street runs parallel to Chinna Maniyakkaara street Once the District Central library was located in a rental building in this street before it got shifted to it's own building Some noted lawyers were residing here

I am referring to my knowledge of 50s and 60s At the time there was a theater here called Thirumalai talkies .Assuming the same has been now being referred as Angamiththu let me remark some remembarance It had no AC and only late evening shows were breezy as after dusk doors will be kept open The charges were 4 annas ie 1/4 of a rupee in the early 60s better optical system enabled a larger screen and image was installed ( not a cinimascope) Konjum salangai was one good movie screened here The other theater we has was Ganapathi talkieslocated at other side of the town

Aanjaneya temple located beside railway track was a famous place of worship during 50s and 60s a locomotive (steam) shed was functioning in front Near that was a ganesa temple called 'Periya pillaiyaar' kovil against a small Ganesa located at the junction of Peria chetti street Chinna chetti street and Chinna maniakaara street We used to go to this Aanjaneya temple not only to offer our prayers but also had fun of watching the engined chuk chukk in and out

This hill was once famous spot in the 50s and 60s People use to climb up and take evening breeze It had greeneries and when radio was not a common house hold property people gather to listen to radio madras broad coasts Hence the name radio malai
